The National Heritage Area is an integral part of Yuma's history; this honor was bestowed upon Yuma in 2000. Only 2 of 23 National Heritage Areas are located west of the Missippi River; Yuma takes great pride in this distinction.
The Yuma Crossing National Heritage Area Corporation is instrumental in projects such as the Riverfront Development Project, Downtown Yuma Revitalization and the East & West Wetlands renaissance. One of many incentives for firms to relocate to the downtown area is the blending of old and new throughout the community.
